Cleveland Heights had a strong showing at the Division I St. Edward sectional tournament on Feb. 29.
As a team, the Tigers took 4th place. Six wrestlers finished in the top four to qualify for the Perrysburg District. Four others are alternates.
“We have a very young team and I see some great things happening for us in the future,” Heights coach Willie Newton said. “But before we talk about next year and beyond we aren’t done yet.
“I believe the sky’s the limit for all of our kids whether they are alternates or not.”
Placing the Tigers were Jervon Cole, freshman, at (106), Jaylen Coleman, sophomore, at (113), Alex Cummings, sophomore, at (120), Troy Gentry, sophomore, at (126) alternate, Benjamin Cloud, sophomore, at (132) alternate, Christen Green, senior, at (138), Seneca Reaves, senior, at (160) alternate, Darion Thompson, freshman, at (170), Donquez Harper, sophomore, at (195), and Ramone Ross, freshman, at (HVY).
“I feel that regardless of what the outcome is all of our young guys will get some valuable experience at the top level,” Newton said.
