Despite the loss of four seniors, the bar is set high for the defending LEL Lake Division boys golf champions – the Cleveland Heights Tigers.

Heights coach Kevin Dixon, in his 10th season with the Tigers, is excited about a new-look lineup.

A starting lineup of Henry Pentecost, Brendon Lang, Ryan Bayhurst, Trent Adams, Josh Banks and Cecil Fritz will lead the Tigers in 2019. Bayhurst is the lone returning starter from a team that graduated four seniors. Fritz is a promising sophomore who saw time on JV in 2018. Xavier Routh is an up-and-coming junior who is relatively new to the game of golf, but has plenty of potential. Hayden Connor-Kuntz is a senior whose family has excelled in the game and he has shown promise as well.

Team chemistry and willingness to learn will be strengths of the 2019 team.

Dixon has the bigger picture in mind when discussing expectations for the fall, that include readiness in the classroom and developing as men as well as developing as golfers.

Dixon relayed a quote by the great Jack Nicklaus that stresses the joy of competition against opponents you respect regardless of the outcome.

In addition, the program looks to continue its growth with the middle school program heading into its second year.
